This year marks Catamount’s 28th anniversary. Our journey began with, and is defined by, a commitment to delivering best-in-class outcomes, built on a foundation of trust, respect, and treating our customers with integrity. We take pride in delivering exceptional projects for all our partners, driven by a shared ownership mentality where everyone goes above and beyond to ensure success.
“Catamount has always been about people. I have worked alongside some of the most dedicated, hardworking individuals in the industry,” said Tom Seaman, Co-CEO. “Our success is about the collective effort of every employee-owner who takes pride in what we build. The ESOP gave us the opportunity to turn that pride into something tangible, ensuring that everyone who contributes to our success shares in it. That sense of ownership fuels our culture, our drive, and our commitment to delivering for our clients. I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve built together and what’s still to come.”
Looking Back: A Foundation Built to Last
Founded in 1997, Catamount started with a vision to deliver best-in-class construction projects while fostering strong teams to support client and partner relationships. Over the years, we have expanded our expertise and reach, successfully completing $777.4 MM in average volume over the past five years. Our growth reflects not only our commitment to one another but to our unwavering dedication to delivering exceptional results for our clients.
The Power of Employee Ownership
One of the defining attributes of Catamount is our employee ownership culture. The establishment of our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) in 2017 was a pivotal moment in our history—solidifying our founders’ vision to leave a lasting legacy. They recognized that Catamount’s strength has always come from its people, and the ESOP became a powerful way to honor the dedication and contributions of every individual who has shaped our success.
By embracing employee ownership, we have built a culture where every team member has a vested interest in our collective achievements. This sense of ownership fuels innovation, strengthens accountability, and drives a shared commitment to excellence—ensuring that Catamount remains not just a company, but a true community of builders with a purpose and passion for building lasting relationships.
Throughout our history, we’ve had the privilege of working on groundbreaking projects across multiple industries nationwide, from state-of-the-art healthcare facilities, groundbreaking build to rent developments, and hospitality projects to large-scale industrial distribution centers. Each project is a demonstration of our team’s expertise, adaptability, and capacity to deliver innovative solutions that meet our clients’ vision and evolving needs wherever they need us. We’ve established ourselves as a reliable partner and today enjoy doing repeat business with more than 80% of our customers, a tribute to the dedication of our team.
Giving Back: The Catamount Foundation
At Catamount, we believe success is measured not just by what we build, but by the impact we have on our communities. Leaning into our deep-rooted values of family and community, we established The Catamount Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to supporting causes that align with and uplift the construction industry.
Through the foundation, we invest in workforce development programs, support trade education, provide disaster relief, and contribute to charitable initiatives that strengthen the communities where we live and work. This commitment reflects our belief that building a better future extends beyond our projects—it means fostering opportunity, resilience, and meaningful change for those around us.
Looking Ahead: The Future of Catamount
As Catamount celebrates 28 years, we are also looking forward to what’s next. The construction industry is advancing, and we are committed to staying at the forefront by embracing new technologies, sustainable building practices, and innovative solutions. Our focus remains on delivering best-in-class projects while continuing to build lasting partnerships that drive mutual success.
“When I think about what makes Catamount special, it always comes back to our people. Our founders’ decision to transition ownership to employee-owners was a game-changer—allowing us to build a culture where leadership is developed at every level, accountability drives success, and wealth is generated for all employee-owners,” said James Benning, Co-CEO. “As we continue to grow, we remain committed to being a strategic partner to our clients, listening to their needs, and executing at the highest level. Our future is bright because of the entrepreneurial spirit within our ESOP culture and our unwavering focus on delivering what matters most to our clients.”
