March 3rd – 9th marked the 26th annual Women in Construction Week (WIC). Catamount proudly participated by celebrating the women leading the way in the industry.

A 2023 report from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics states only 11% of construction workers in the United States are women. At Catamount Constructors, women make up 20% of our team, beating the industry standard by almost double. The skill, knowledge, and passion of our women employee-owners are key to Catamount’s success. Every day we are grateful for everything they bring to the team.

This year, employee-owners launched “Women for Catamount,” an employee resource group aimed at fostering support and inclusion. The group empowers all employee-owners through connections and learning opportunities that enhance perspectives and promote professional growth. In honor of WIC Week, Women for Catamount hosted an executive panel discussion on mentorship, career development, and industry changes.

“The executive panel discussion held by Women for Catamount marked a significant milestone in our journey toward fostering connection and support within our organization,” said Sage Johnson, Executive Assistant to the Co-CEOs and chair of Women for Catamount. “The thoughtful curation of this event exemplified our commitment to creating a workplace culture where every employee-owner feels valued and heard. By inviting leaders from various backgrounds to share their stories and insights, we aimed to create a platform that resonated with our entire Catamount family. The panel discussion served as a source of inspiration and encouragement, providing valuable perspectives on navigating challenges, advancing careers, fostering mentorship, and achieving work-life balance. We are excited about the opportunities ahead and remain committed to driving positive change within Catamount.”

The panel discussion was an engaging experience designed to address pertinent topics as the industry changes. Through these discussions, the panel helped shed light on the unique obstacles faced by women in the construction industry and offered actionable advice applicable to all aspiring professionals within our organization.

As we reflect on Women in Construction week and the invaluable women who make the AEC industry successful, we are inspired to continue living out our vision to be a best-in-class employee-owned company known for developing leaders at every level.
