How a Beer Garden in Thornton Became a Tribute, a Community Hub, and a Lesson in Ground-Up Development

We’re proud to share the story about how our Catamount team, led by Project Manager Dillon Lawrence and Superintendent Dennis Weisacosky, worked alongside Mark Berzins (Little Pub Co.), Jon Hauser (Drake Real Estate Services), and the design team at ROWE Creative Union to make the ground-up development of Billy Birch Pub & Yard in Thornton a reality.

“Billy Birch is named for my dad, Vilis Berzins,” says Berzins, founder of Denver-based Little Pub Company, which has opened 38 neighborhood pubs across Colorado over 31 years. “He was a Latvian immigrant who came to Colorado after World War II. He went on to become one of the first people in the state to specialize in restaurant and bar design.”
