The construction industry thrives on innovation, collaboration, and leadership—and Women in Construction (WIC) Week 2025 is about acknowledging and unlocking potential for women in the industry. From March 2–8, Catamount proudly joins the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) and industry peers in celebrating the women who are shaping the future of construction. This year’s theme, “Together We Rise,” reflects the power of collaboration, mentorship, and forward-thinking solutions in driving meaningful change.
“Women in Construction Week serves as an important reminder of the progress we’ve made, and the continued efforts needed to support and empower women in our industry,” said Emily Livorsi, VP of the People Team and Executive Sponsor for Women for Catamount. “Our ESOP culture is built on the belief that when every employee-owner has a stake in the company’s success, we all rise together. Supporting women in construction isn’t just the right thing to do—it’s an integral part of our culture of ownership, where everyone has the opportunity to make an impact.”
A Legacy of Progress
WIC Week was established in 1960 to honor the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC). NAWIC was created to support the small but growing number of women in construction and continues to provide education, mentorship, and career development opportunities today.
Women in Construction: By the Numbers
While construction remains a male-dominated industry, progress is happening with women representing 11.2% of the construction workforce nationwide. According to a recent study by Construction Coverage, Florida (14%) and Colorado (13-14%) lead in representation – both of which house Catamount offices.
At Catamount, we’re setting a new standard, with 22% of our workforce comprised of women, far surpassing the industry average. Even more notably, 14% of those women are in boots-on-the-ground roles, including project management, field operations, and quality control. Women are not just part of the future of construction—they are actively shaping it.
Women for Catamount Employee-Owner Resource Group
Creating an environment where women can thrive, lead, and make an impact is part of Catamount’s culture. To further this commitment, we launched Women for Catamount, an employee-owner-led resource group dedicated to mentorship, networking, and professional growth. Driven by our employee-owners, this group fosters connection and support, ensuring every voice is valued while strengthening our business and supporting change in the industry.
“It’s one thing to say support matters—it’s another to take action. Catamount is doing both,” said Michelle Carneal, Project Manager and Women for Catamount Chair. “At the end of the day, we want to be recognized for our achievements—not because we’re women, but because we’ve earned it. This group will help guide meaningful conversations and continue building a culture of support, growth, and opportunity for all.”
Building the Future
At Catamount, our ESOP culture fuels a workplace where every voice matters, and every employee-owner—regardless of title or tenure—has a stake in our collective success. This ownership mindset creates an environment where women in construction can thrive, lead, and innovate.
“The industry is evolving, and over the next decade or so, I think we’ll see a real shift,” said Carneal. “Younger generations don’t seem as preoccupied with traditional roles—they seem to be more focused on skills and capability. As more women enter the industry, opportunities for training and advancement will continue to grow. Even in physically demanding roles, the mindset is changing. Rather than seeing limitations, the industry is finding smarter, more efficient ways to work—and that benefits everyone.”
As we celebrate Women in Construction Week 2025, we recognize that building a stronger industry starts from within—by empowering our teams, fostering leadership, and creating opportunities for every employee-owner to thrive. By championing these values, we’re not just supporting women in construction—we’re shaping a more innovative, inclusive, and resilient future for the entire industry.
Join us in honoring the women driving progress and breaking barriers—because when we rise together, we build better.
